Sometimes, we don't change because we think that if we would decide to change, the decision may bring us pain - things may not work out, it would be a lot of work, we don't have the time, and things aren't that bad after all. Better a sparrow in the hand than a pigeon on the roof, right?
So we decide not to change, or, we simply make no decision at all and just go with the flow. But no decision is a decision, too, a decision with consequences.
If you look beyond tomorrow, what will the decision not to change cost you in the future? What will you not have in 5, 10, 20 years? Will it cost you your self-respect? Will it cost you your health? will it cost you the ability to provide for your family? Will it cost you your happiness, the knowledge that you fulfilled your life's purpose? Will you even still be alive?
On the other hand, what would happen, if you went through with this change, if you gave it your all until you succeeded, if you made it happen, and it all finally came together? How would you feel? Where would you be? Who would you be with, what new friends would you make? What would you leave for your family? What would you have? What would you contribute to society, or to the environment, or to the other creatures we share this planet with, that would be of real value to them? Will the world be a better place because, you were in it? How much better would it be? What could you achieve? Would you simply have a lot more fun and joy, joy that you could share with those around you?
Change is never certain, there are no guarantees in life. However, staying where you are may have consequences you never thought of, and in the long run, if you look at the possible consequences of both paths, staying may be just as dangerous as changing - for you and your family, and what's worse, you may never find out what your potential was. On the other hand, changing may get you where you never thought you could go, your family may thank you for it in the long run, and you may be able to make a real difference in this life!
